Pauline Phillips
In April 1865, a group of Christians assembled and decided to establish Smyrna Baptist Church. The first church was made of logs with a dirt floor. In 1871, J.J. Dawsey donated the land where the current church stands today. The building was destroyed in 1882 by a storm. Two or three other buildings have been constructed and remodeled. The first Sunday School was on May 6, 1876.
